Description

1/4 Seattle cityscapes created for the Artist Table My Town exhibition. [link]

5x7in Watercolor and ink on Fabriano Artistico.

Generations of my family have lived in a rural part of Washington State. I live in Seattle. I know my family doesn’t understand my love affair with this city. To me, walking all over this fantastic city is one of the most wonderful things about my life. The man-made geometric structures of the skyline and the lush green that gives it the nickname, “The Emerald City,” come together to create a world of color and wonder. I try to capture my love of this city in many of my paintings, so others can see this city through my eyes.

These watercolors were created especially for the My Town exhibition. I walked through the city looking for places and scenes that resonated with me, and I hope that others will experience the joy of my town.

I kind of like this painting actually. It's not stunningly made, or I mean.. oh gosh that sounded mean. What I mean is that it doesn't look super complicated like those landscape pictures where you are absolutely sure that some kind of unhuman thing painted that because it looks like a photograph. The simplicity in this is really, really good. All the colors, the fact that you painted the colors a bit outside the lines, I love it. I want this printed on a canvas and hang it on a huge white wall where it can sit and do its thing. It's kind of surreal and at the same time as it is abstract, it is very natural. Does it sound like I'm high while writing this? Because I can't really understand what I have written now that I read it.

So summarized, I like this painting I could want it on my wall and I could never paint this good even if I really want to.
